Absolutely awesome concert, Live and Alone rules, so great to see Occasionally again.

This was my first Live and Alone experience and I was blown away. For me, there was just no comparison in this vs having the band. "Alone" you really get to see the amazing talent that is Melissa Etheridge; the vocals and guitar skill are so much more pronounced. This is what music was meant to be.

Highlights for me personally were the classic Weakness in Me, one of my old favorites When You Find The One, but the highlight of the night for me was Yes I Am...WOW.

That's what I'm looking forward to!!! MLE is extremely talented and the only way to completely hear and see this is at at a Live and Alone show. I can't wait!! 8-)

Sounds like a great show.Great to Occassionally in the st as I have never heard that one live before. Here's hoping for Watching you, Royal Station 4/16 and The Boy Feels Strange.

My first time to see a Live & Alone show too. Loved it! It was great to hear Occasionally with Melissa playing the back of her guitar like a drum and Precious Pain. I will post a couple of photos when i get them uploaded. Great crowd, great show!

Etheridge concert draws Dinah crowd

Some arrived in golf clothes, others in dresses. Some were gay and some were straight.

They all came to see a woman who has been open with them about being a lesbian, her
battle with breast cancer and her fight for equality.

They were there to see Melissa Etheridge.

By the time the doors to The Show at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa opened for her
8p.m. concert, the lobby of the casino was filled mostly with women who were in town for
Dinah Shore Weekend.

The event is a series of parties, concerts and brunches held during the Kraft Nabisco
Championship golf tournament, which was once named after the late entertainer and
desert resident Dinah Shore. The party began 1991 as a modest, grassroots event. It
has since grown into the largest lesbian gathering in the world.

Etheridge's fans came early to claim their seats.

"I gotta see Melissa," said Kim of Cathedral City. "I can relate her songs to my life. We
come from similar backgrounds and they have a lot of meaning for me."

Marla Gain of Alisa Viejo said she was in town "for the golf and to see Melissa."

Helene Goldson of Los Angeles brought her 91/2

"He's the Melissa fan," she said. "He's listened to her music since he was really little
and always loved it."

"She rocks," Brenner said.

Alone on the stage, Etheridge brought her music to life to an appreciative crowd. A
group of 50 or so fans crowded the front of the stage throughout the concert.

"They come from all over," she told the rest of the audience. "They're from Germany,
England, all over. And I know every one of them."

The singer joked about Dinah Shore Weekend and how she chose not to come out for
the fun nearly 25 years ago. "The idea scared me," she said. "I'm not that scared now."

Etheridge announced at the end of the evening that she planned on returning for Dinah
Shore Weekend 2010.

Before the show, Etheridge signed a guitar for the AIDS Assistance Program in Palm
Springs and gave a private two-song "concert" for some of her fans.

Rhondda thanks too for posting that great review, what an amazing night, that reviewer seemed to really get it.

I now have laryngitis, so combination of singing, yahooing and a sore throat means I now have barely any voice, see it is turning into one wonderful vacation for Dawn.

my voice has taken on a decidedly deeper timber today what with the Springsteen show in San Jose on Wednesday night followed by MLE's show last night, topped off with the requisite after-show activities <ahem>. sex-ay! :lol:

not to dispute the non-biodegradability or stinkiness of the confetti, but that yellow/green thing that's showing up on some photos of her Ovation was not confetti. that plastic thingy showed up much earlier on in the show.

i thought maybe it was a reverse capo (i have no idea if there is such a thing <g>) or a pickup or something.

Hi Sandy, sorry I didn't get to say goodbye to you. I think I had been up for nearly 24 hours by that time, and was ready for some sleep. I enjoyed talking with you. This is a trip I will not soon forget....Melissa Live, hanging out by the pool with friends, eating a lot of good food, and hearing lots of good stories. Too bad I have to go back home today.

And as a footnote to my previous post, The three songs I was hoping to hear were all performed, Precious Pain, Occasionally and Chrome Plated Heart! just back home from cali.!!!! we are sad about that....the show at the agua was so great!!! live and alone was such a cool treat for us...melissa sounded so good,her voice stong..the song choices were tops for us...precious pain,nowhere to go,meet me in the dark and yes i am really standing out for me...my kid loved being that close to the stage and mle...it was really,really nice to meet some of the people on the forum...put a face to the posts...thanks to mle and everyone we met...
