Will someone who followed the set list please post it here!! :D I was too busy with other things to do it and keep track! ;)

Thanks to Linda I had a 6th row seat initially for tonights show(then moved into the 4th row as fans cleared out to stand at the stage)

Surprised a few fans with my attendance tonite! Hey IAM how about reading my signature  for the answers!! :D (not very observant!) :D

Tracy and Kris glad I could surprise you also!! Last minute decision I couldn't pass up! :clapping: plus needed those positive vibes from Melissa after having my sonogram waiting for the results!

Great show!! Awesome night with several tour premieres, Bruce cover of ThunderRoad and a brand new song "Away" Lots of video taken tonight by lots of fans so expect some good stuff to appear on youtube soon.

Stage rush was really no rush as everyone who wanted to be up there was from the start. At some point a few security guards tried to get fans to sit down up front saying others can't see but they were ignored and no one moved or others just stood in front of their seats.

Lots of funny remarks by Melissa besides some mistakes in her songs which she laughed about and keep on going!! Some Talk about her kids and how interesting it is to discipline her older ones as they are as tall or taller than she is... also saying she is getting her own revenge by having great kids!! At some point fans yelled out 'have you paid your taxes?" and Melissa replied as she took out her ear plugs "that sounded important" so the fans repeated their question and of course she replied she did and said she had some famous blogs not so long ago.

A few fans held up a banner showing they were from Holland and she talked to them a bit saying how the Europeans are a bit upset with her and she still hopes sometime in the future to get there but she has 4 kids. She thanked them much for coming here to see her.

Shout out for two birthday pals Tracy and Brendan who were there tonight and up at the stage. Linda(Hugs) and Kris both held up signs as Melissa said Happy BIrthday to Tracy right after All American Girl....they all had 1st row seats and that was very cool for her to have front row seats on her birthday. Several others from the fanclub had front row also. Tracy got her Awakening request of "Ive Loved Her Before." She did Prison which she remarked she hadn't done since the last Live & Alone Tour. She made remarks about the hard time she had back then but she learned so much going through that time.

Melissa remarked she is recording her new album in 3 weeks. Can't wait for that, more shows, more covers and new songs.

Everyone attending the 2 remaining shows in June have a blast and hope to see more fans in Aug at the shows!

Awesome show..sounded great..lots of laughs as she forgot words to songs. I wish I could write the whole set list..but I am missing some, I will try, definitely not in the right order.....All American Girl (was first for sure), Brave and Crazy, Silent Legacy, Prison (with harmonica), I've loved you before, the Ruins, The DIfferent, I run for Life, Weakness in Me, Thunder Road (on piano with harmonica), You can sleep while I drive, new song Away, Chrome Plated Heart, I want to come over, Your little secret..I'm the only one, Bring me some water,

I am missing some, but I gave it a try. I am thrilled at hearing so many songs that we haven't heard in a while...the two from Skin were wonderful..Can't wait for August.

I believe the missing song on the set list is “Come to My Window,” to the best of my recollection. It was a wonderful show! Great venue. I have great memory with that place. I saw Melissa there for the first time 10 years ago. She was promoting “Breakdown” and I had a first row seat.

Melissa made reference to the last time she visited NJPAC and how much has changed since then. She said it is all about the choices we make.

… Anyway, Melissa looked and sounded AWESOME, as usual.

I love when she talks between the songs. She was saying how much she likes New Jersey and would like to be from here … to be the “Jersey girl.” It was funny. Apparently, Melissa had to part with Tammy who said to her that she would have funny in NJ. She also said she is cancer free for 5 years, now. Yes! A couple times she made funny faces to people who were recording her performance.

I’m very delighted that she performed “The Different” and “I Have Loved You Before.” They are my top songs. All together the songs were very diverse. The show lasted 2 hours. She was funny and looked very happy and healthy. The positive energy was radiating from her. Great show!

Happy belated birthday to Tracy and Brendan. Hello to my fellow Europeans who came all the way from Holland. I’m from Poland. It even rhymes.

Lea, thanks for your great concert review. You are a hard act to follow [lol].

Peace,

Thanks MEIN for the first row tickets. Yay to Penfan, too. :group hug:
(Am so far very blessed with a great birthday month: first, orch seat at the Tonys, then 1st row seats at MLE concert, maybe I'll hit the grand prize at AC tonite on my way to Cape May. ;))

As always, great seeing many familiar faces last night. 8-) Very cool that MLE said Happy Birthday to Tracy! :birthday: Excellent setlist. MLE missed some lyrics here and there -really not worth mentioning, but it was cute. She looked and sounded wonderful.

I considered texting/twittering but it wouldve looked odd/rude to be at the stage doing so. Posted a picture of the setlist but Kris also posted so I just removed it.

Looking forward to Red Bank & AC!! Can't wait.

Have a great summer til then. :peace:

What a fantastic show last nite. Melissa was her charming self. Her voice - both lyrical and raspy was as strong as ever. I was blown AWAY by her new song "AWAY" - it was love at first listen. I hope that one winds up on the new CD. I brought a friend of mine to her first MLE concert and we were right up there at the stage from the start. Of course she had a terrific time. Melissa came over to us during during the first half of the show and handed me her pick. I was lucky enough to have that happen to me twice before, years ago at Starland Ballroom in NJ and also in San Francisco, CA. (yes I'm a bi-coastal Melissa fan). So I did the honorable thing and handed the pick to my friend as a souvenir of her first Melissa concert.

Thank you Melissa, Lora and everyone else at the Fan Club and all my fellow fan club members for a terrific nite. A special shout to Tracy and Kris! Hope all your birthday dreams come true Tracy.

CRUISIN - I think I have Thunder Road on video along with the new song Away. Should be able to post later this week.

Well I think most above have said it all...well almost all..

I must say...yes...it was all magical... Best words I can think of about attending a MLE live concert....and IMO her live and alone shows are just a bit more intense.

What a great show, and she sang for just close to two hours. Which I was so happy about especially seeing how short her last two shows were.

We were at the stage before MLE came out and we heard over our shoulders only once security ask people to return to their seats...myself and the people around me agreed to not even look back and totally ignore them....we did, and they went away...and on our side of the stage, there was plently of room for many to come up and stand behind us...but AMAZINGLY many did not. One time I took my eyes of the stage and saw that most of the audience was seated. But towards the end, many did come up. Whatever, it all was good for me :)

One thing that is true is that there is enough of Melissa to go around for everyone and she is one classy chic. During the show there was a small child, maybe around 3 yrs old up up near the end of the stage...this little girl kept calling MLEs name.....Melissssssa.......Melissssssssa....Melisssssa. Well MLE finally heard her and then went into talking about her kids.....but the great thing wasn't MLE talking about her kids that struck me, it was the long and loud applause the crowd gave MLE for having kids :thumbs up: ....and as MLE went on to say...having great kids. :thumbs up: Shortly afterwards MLE went over and gave that small child a guitar pic. :clapping:

[b]Penfan(Lu) So so sorry to overlook that especially after you spending sometime in the balcony not so long ago in AC :D It's about time you got front row!! :D :thumbs up:

I didn't mention several who were in the front row so now I shall including yourself, Marie and her partner and I know a few others that I myself can't even name who may have been there for the very first time(meaning actually got mein front row tickets) I believe Kathyb you were there also and sorry I didn't meet you but were you outside with Tracy and Kris/Linda & Jeanette before we left for the night? If so then again I didn't meet you :? So glad Brendan(was his bday too) and company got to the stage and I had a sign which said bring Brendan down front but I didn't even have to hold it up b/c he was there and Tracy got her 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY' wishes from Melissa.

Soko so glad you made the show along with other boardies/MLE fans I hadn't seen in sometime. Shout out to Kate and Marylou! :D

Thanks for the comments on my review but it was short and definitely left out a lot that others included besides the set list/thanks Kris for posting it. I have a bunch to also add to youtube but won't get to that till the weekend and dubbing also some more ;) Pen....shhh you said a mouthful :D
I
know Linda already has both thunderRoad up on youtube and the new song so do a search for hugsy2k and you should find both videos.

Thanks again to Linda and J for having me over. You gals are great hosts and have a beautiful place. It was a pleasure enjoying this experience with you both and also hanging at the stage towards the end with Tracy/Kris. I caught you guys right before BMSW on camera so check that out on youtube sometime soon!

I will get my video's posted later today, and they are just as good as everything that is out there already, but have a different angle to them so you can see more of MLE at the piano, and on AWAY my view is from the opposite side of the stage so its just another view of a great song.

I don't usually do this, but I went looking to see if I missed something ... nope, I don't think I did.

Away

It feels like everything is broken
It feels like love is far away
So many unkind words were spoken
I wish I could erase

You think that I'm not thinking of you
I think that you're not being fair
You t hink I'm asking way too much of you
I think you just don't care

If you don't have to find the answer
I don't have to get it right
We can fix this in the morning
You don't have to go away, tonight.

Let's shine some light upon these shadows
We've both been hiding underneath
When did I stop the understanding
Of all that I believe

You think that I'm not thinking of you
I think you think that I'm all wrong
You think I'm asking way too much of you
And I think it's been way too long

If you don't have to have an answer
I don't have to get it right
We can fix this in the morning
You don't have to go away, tonight

don't go away
don't go away
don't go away
You don't have to go away
You don't have to go away
You don't have to run away
Takin' all your love away
You don't have to go away
Come on baby
You don't have to go, go away.

Great thank you for the lyrics, I just love we are getting to hear some new songs on this tour as well as cover songs, only Melissa has the class to mix it up like this so every show is different and special. That Newark show sounded wonderful.

It did, didn't it...the set list was amazing and it's so great to hear new songs. I like to hear 'em then wonder how they will sound on the cd. Amazing I'm sure! I'm still stuck on "Stay With Me"...it's so great! :thumbs up:

Melissa Etheridge rocks solo performance at New Jersey Performing Arts Center
by Jay Lustig/The Star-Ledger
Friday June 26, 2009, 4:22 PM

During her Wednesday night concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Melissa Etheridge debuted a new song, "Away," that she is thinking about including on a new album she will begin recording in a few weeks. It's a ballad, but the album itself will have "a lot of rockin' songs," she assured her fans.

This was a solo show, where Etheridge accompanied herself, mostly, on acoustic guitar, and occasionally on electric guitar or piano. Yet it, too, had a lot of rockin' songs.

When she stomped out the beat on "Chrome Plated Heart," for instance, or strummed muscular power chords on "Your Little Secret," or sang with throat-shredding intensity on "I'm the Only One," she proved you don't need a band to rock. Etheridge, 48, has built her career on her belief in the redemptive power of rock 'n' roll, and she wasn't about to let the lack of a rhythm section stop her.

It was an intimate evening as well, though, with Etheridge -- who also has solo shows booked for August in Red Bank and Atlantic City -- casually chatting, between songs. She talked about her wife and her growing children: "I don't know how to parent eye-to-eye," said the mother of four, including a 12-year-old daughter. She talked about
music: She played harmonica on a few songs, she said, "because if you are a rock star and you do a solo show, you have to play a harmonica."

Mentioning her battle with breast cancer, and the fact that she has been cancer-free for five years, she inspired the night's loudest cheer.

Two of the evening's best numbers found her on the piano, playing tribute to two of her influences. First she sang Joan Armatrading's introspective cheating tale "The Weakness In Me," after talking about playing it in noisy bars, early in her career, and dreaming about presenting the kind of show she was presenting at NJPAC.

Four numbers later, she returned to the piano to perform a slow, heartfelt version of Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road" ("Since we're in New Jersey ...," she said). She hadn't played it in public since Springsteen sang it with her on her 1995 MTV "Unplugged" special, she said, adding that that was "one of the finest moments of my life."

Elsewhere in the show, she played signature songs like "Bring Me Some Water" and "I Want To Come Over" and her Oscar-winning "I Need to Wake Up" (from the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth") as well as relatively obscure compositions like "Ruins," "The Prison" and "I've Loved You Before."

She performed "Away" with the caveat that it may end up being radically changed on the new album, or could be left off. She also joked that she was free to mess it up, since nobody would know she was making a mistake.

It sounded pretty perfect the way it was: a sweet, sad song about a relationship that is in trouble ("It feels like everything is broken") but is not necessarily beyond healing.

"You don't have to find an answer/I don't have to get it right/We can fix this in the morning/You don't have to go away tonight," Etheridge sang, in the stubbornly hopeful chorus.
