How sweet was this show!! OMG...it rocked as much if not more than last night. Lots of cool things happened as signs were taken by Melissa from fans in the front row and a number of friends were involved with that. My good friend Theresa had her pelican pink sign with words saying shes a cancer survivor handed up to Melissa and then she got Melissas pick. IAM had 2 signs created celebrating MLE 20 year anniversary taken up on stage for MLE who showed them off and made some funny remarks on them(see interview to come) A fan (named Ruth) whom had some great Washington pictures I posted on another thread...handed up an old Bruce S button that she wanted Melissa to keep and she did.(just found that out via email :D )

Melissa rocked big time tonite and lets just say all the cameras were rolling and snapping and security was very lax. :D Awesome set list and Tracy and Kris got their wishes of Unusual Kiss/Threesome and I even wanted Come On Out Tonight and it was in the setlist. Bravo to Helpmemama and her partner for scoring 1st row center seats...also my pal Theresa was dead center in the 2nd row. Seems lots of fans further back got to the stage and were there for the rest of the show...ah I was busy so Im not sure when the stage rush happened so others please comment on that. I knew IAM was having none of that being in our row again...same as first night..first row J then Row K :D hmmm interesting how we keep winding up in the same row :D But soon enough she was up there at the stage with her partner in tow.

Great having dinner with all that meet up at Mustang Harrys. Some names I cant remember and sorry but hopefully some will be filled in. Shout out to Tracy for organizing it...Hugsy2k, Kris and Sal, Kat (dogrescuegirl) Helpmemama and partner and a few others...beside my partner. We did a fun video interview that I will have up soon on youtube. Quite amusing and more jokes about that little prank that was played on me the first night besides the awesome time fans had the first night and what they wanted to hear tonite. Lots got their wish.

I also finally met Stella_g who had the opportunity the first night to be at the stage and as you know it was her rose that was handed to Linda who put it in Melissa mouth. Great meeting you Stella_g and you know I shall be in touch.
Nice seeing some other faces I havent seen in awhile also. I know lots will be in contact soon. ;)

Probably much more I will add later and right now I am uploading a video from the first night I will post on that thread of 'Open Your Mind' that is pretty darn good. I got lots of interaction the first night between Melissa and philip and a bit less tonite as I was trying to stay away from any security that might be on my tail. :D Look for that link soon and wow....some of these are pretty amazing :D ...BTW I pretty much got the entire 2nd show other than a few black out moments :D

Come on gang lets hear your review when you are ready to post it. :D

OOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THAT show ROCKED harder than any of the three shows I have been to yet! AWESOME set list, Awesome audience! My brother came with me to the show and he really liked it a lot! And I can't say he was a Melissa fan before tonight but he said he would definitely go to another show. Unusual Kiss, Come On Out Tonight, Threesome, Mama I'm Strange....AWESOME! We ended up with decent seats...not the ones we were supposed to be in, but we were able to make it to the stage and lean on it :) At the end of the show, Fritz darted across the stage and handed me his drum stick! How freaking amazing! Tonight's set list was SO different from last night. Last night her songs were more mellow and more of the older ones. Tonight's were more ROCKIN'. I love how the set list changes from night to night!

Saw ALL the usual suspects in the crowd tonight and met a few new faces. I finally met Angie. What a very nice, sweet woman. We stood next to each other at the stage and introduced ourselves to each other. Nice to meet you Angie!!!

Dinner before the show was fun, a bit loud, but fun...lol. Now, after the show, the boys were all out again hanging with the peeps and signing autographs, for a very long time. We chatted with them all including getting to hear some very cool stories from Mark. What a nice guy. That man has some tales to tell and I'm gonna let Kris or Linda fill that in. I don't want tell it all...although, the recap is on my camera...so we could remember it all, so if ya need me to listen, let me know...I won't WATCH IT  , I just can't...LOL. :) Also chatted with Fritz and Philip a bit. I cannot wait for Philip to release his new stuff. He is so completely talented. I could sit and watch him wail, noodle, strum, WHATEVER on that guitar. What a very very awesome night.

I can't believe it is 3:51 AM and I am still up. Kris & Sal, Hugsy2k and I went out for a drink afterwards and ended up not leaving Mustang Harry's until 2:00 in the morning. I am going to be tired at work tomorrow...LOL. Oh well.

I hope everyone have a great night and I will see ya'll later.

Peace,

I am still and total and complete shock that I was in FRONT ROW! When Lea told me Row C was first row, I was like "Are you sure??, Are you Sure? Are you Sure????" I still can't believe it.! That stuff NEVER happens to me. First Rosie, then that! What an awesome two nights! AND to top it off, she played Mama I'm Strange (which is where "helpmemamma" comes from!!!!! So I KNOWWWWWWWWWWW Melissa played that for me knowing I was in front row! LOLOLOLOL

Too fun! Too cool! Too excited to even really know what I'm saying right now.

What a few days you had - First Rosie and then front row :) Congrats to you & so glad we finally got to met, will have to chat more next time!!!

Well like Tracy said, this show totally rocked, the crowd seemed more into it tonight, the setlist was amazing, one of her best yet. I ended up on the opposite side of the stage from "the gang" 10 rows back on a steep angle, but my hubby managed to talk our way up to second row and it was just incredible. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped me get Unusual Kiss played - we had "arts and crafts" during dinner and Tracy and IAM made some signs, then Helpmemamma, Tracy, Linda, myself and a few others all held up our Unusual Kiss signs right after I want to come over and she played it!!! I have been dying to hear that song live and the band totally rocked it!! Then to hear Come On out Tonight the place was just exploding.

We rushed the stage a bit early and took security by surprise and ended up right in front of Philip at the stage. I held up a sign that said Let the Love in right before Philips solo and both MLE and Philip saw it - I added to it to say Play Some and MLE mouthed the song title to Philip and then smiled, but alas they did not play any :( I did end up getting Philips pick at the end of the night - he was so amazing.

We were standing at the same spot we were in after the show last night, but since the gang were headed out of town tonight the busses were down the street ready to take the band away. Mark and Lily came out of that same door though and looked around for a few minutes as if to say - "hey, were are the busses?" I finally walked over to him and said I think you want the busses right? and he looked at me with a look like "you know where the busses are? - Yes please help me" so I sent him down the street. - :)

Sal got to hang out and talk to Fritz a lot again and gave him a few things, he was soooo nice and made Sal one happy guy. Sal had won an autographed Awakening cd during the DVD listening party and so I was able to get Philip, Mark and Fritz all to sign it! They all were impressed that MLE had signed it first and were careful not to write over her signature - :D Thanks guys

So Mark - talked for a long time with us and, Tracy, we might have to watch - or at least listen - to that tape because I can't remember much - lol . He said that he was living in London for 7 years playing with the band Simple Minds and in 1993 he was doing a try out or something with Rolling Stones and MLE was auditioning fora new basasist across the hall. he thought it would be cool to play with both MLE and the RS in one day and met up with John Shanks who somehow asked him to come try out. He was the last one of the night and they all just shaked his hand and thanked him for coming and that was it. A few days later he gets a call asking him what type of food he likes, is he a vegetarian stuff like that which he thught was odd so he finally said why are you asking me these things? and the person said "we start rehearsals in 2 days -don't you know you got the job?" He had no idea and the rest is history!! That was in the beginning of 1994 and then Yes I am hit and they travelled everywhere.

he is playing barefoot this tour because when they first started the rug was very fluffy so he took off his shoes as a joke and he really liked how it felt! It makes him feel very relaxed and comfy so he is diggin it! Also MLE asked them to learn 81 songs for this tour - wow!!!

Lily was there and he said she sang backup on MLE's new Xmas cd - so Iam just guessing that that is already or at least almost done!!!! They also said that they were working on coming to NY to play some of their own shows - totally can't wait for that!!

I'm sure he said more, but can't remember - thanks for taking the time to chat with us - you were awesome!!

Did get home very late about 3:30 - Tracy glad you made it out of the parking garage - lol But would do it all again in a heartbeat!! We had so much fun with everyone, thanks for making it an awesome night!!!

YES YES YES...last nights show was soooooo much better than the night before. MLE rocked...the setlist rocked...Philip rocked.....and of course the NYC fans rocked as well.

Meeting up at MHs before the show was cool, but I did not know there was going to be an arts and crafts session...LOL. But great signs were made and not sure if UK was on the original set list, but she did sing it....YEAH.

Security was at times tough and at other times not so tough. I again did not have great seats (row 8) but at least this time I had aisle seats. I did see Tracy, Kat and Linda way upfront on one side and saw an opportunity to go join them when the security guard had his back turned, so I did. When I got up there I told Tracy I had no signs with me and she said go get them....dont ask me how I went back and again made it there a 2nd time, but I did. Tracy was awesome in lending me her ticket when the security guard asked me to show him my ticket to prove I belonged there. Thanks again Tracy. I only stood there for a short while as I felt guilty leaving my gf behind, so I went back to my 7th row seat to be with her (and they were playing I Have Loved You Before - we love that song)..and thought my chances of rushing the stage were over. Well with the lead of Angie and Dawn who were just 2 rows in front of me also on the aisle....she gave me the signal when we should run and we did. We were met with a forceful security guard who was trying to hold back whom ever he could, but whoever got thru they let stay....and I made it there with my gf...so it was all magical. We were so close to MLE that I could see those custom red earphones with the MLE key symbol in her ears. I did not bring up my camera or I would have snapped a pic of that.

NYB was awesome in doing what she does....but then again we will have to wait to see the final product to see how awesome she really was. Again my seats were just one seat away from NYB....HEY NYB we have to stop meeting like this...people are going to start talking about us....LOL....OOPS...they all ready are...LOL.

Piece of my heart was way cool...but if I am not mistaken, she flubbed the lines at the end and corrected herself. Did anyone else notice that or am I mistaken?

Helpmemamma scored damn hot first row seats....YAHOO....so during dinner I recruited her and her gf to hold up some of my signs...after all its not about me...its about MLE seeing them....they graciously agreed to do so and I told them that they could keep the signs as well. It was nice talking with them both during the dinner and sharing things about ourselves. Rock on girls!!!

I was happy that MLE took two of my signs....she actually asked me if I wanted them back.....of course I did not want them back....she also said i must have a lot of time on my hands...LOL...and that I am very talented...LOL. I know she and the band really liked them and I had been told Fritz really liked one of my signs and he wanted one of them. Thru the gracious efforts of another fan, we were able to get the sign to him. Thank you gracious fan.....you know who you are...LOL.

Also at the end of the night, near the buses, Fritz came over and thanked me for the sign. I also got him, Philip, Mark and Lily to sign one of my other signs....now all I need is the boss lady to sign that one sign....hopefully by the end of the tour I can get it signed as I have a few more shows to attend.

With more shows ahead for me what am I going to do? I went into last nights show with 6 banners and came out with only two? Guess I better get busy making new ones....LOL.

That youtube interview is going to be hysterical.

I can't wait to see what IAM has in store for her next signage venture.

NYBABE I can't wait...that's all I can say. LOL :D

Lori - I was so happy for you in the front row. You looked so happy there :)

Postby artgirl on Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:56 am

Hmm. I had a splendid time last night. It's always fun to see Melissa Etheridge in New York City. I do have to admit that it certainly was not the best concert I have attended. The show seemed to lack a certain something that I cannot quite put my finger on. I am not sure if it was the lack of energy in the theater, or maybe it was a technical issue because it wasn't loud enough, or the set list itself, but I have definitely attended better Melissa Etheridge concerts in the past. However, I still love her and I really had an amazing time last night. I just couldn't take my eyes off of her! Her facial expressions were a highlight of the night. She was very funny as well. One humorous moment of the evening, as she was introducing An Unexpected Rain, she was talking about the '80s and how some of the audience still looked as if they were still in the '80s. Ouch, but it's true! I must say that I enjoyed the story telling in between songs. I feel as if I now know more about this amazing woman. Thank you for a fun time, Melissa!

I agree Tracy especially when you told me to get my thumb off the lense...you were right...pro I am not but learning my dear! Love the fun stuff and you can hear every word everyone says even with all the noise in the restaurant. Youll hear my quite excited voice as I interview everyone but hey thats probably no excuse because I run off ...at the mouth :P like that even other times...yea yea thats me..live with it or not....say what you will or not and I hear they are saying a lot :sicktongue: .....wow guess were all stars now that others cant help talking about us.... :surprised:  OMG lookie here all the smilies are back in town....get ready the interview video is about to hit YOUTUBE! I will make a post so everyone doesnt miss it!...and NO I didnt make it on camera haha..its enough to hear me talking in the backround! :D Give me about 10 -15 mins..or so to load it up and I believe it will fit on youtube. BTW I see tons of video from 7/10 on youtube now....probably songs I cant post as I left my camera running creating longer files. The only excitement was with MLE on stage tonite and all those who were involved with some fun stuff up close....you could see MLE was having a grande time and so were all of us watching it.

OK...just watched the video.....I am officially releasing you of your new name "LEA with an A" and bestowing you with the new name "LEA SPIELBERG".

:clapping:

Very very appropriate IAM.....or should I say Marie  but what is more appropriate after all your COVERS of Melissa that now fans can see...is that you are on the COVER of that video when fans search for it....also quite appropriate! You know how they say Melissa is unforgettable during her show....enough said! :D I think that worked real well.

Oh Toomuch...you are toomuch. ..as it fits your name...not quite! I was just glad I was behind the camera and Tracy didnt grab it from me..shes the pro at this kind of thing....but at least she tipped me off that my thumb was then appearing on her face  or we would have wondered what that strange object was as she was talking to us. Some pro I am :P but I will learn...till the next time. Stay tuned for more videos on youtube...I just found out that my better half was filming also on her smaller camera and oh boy did she get some prime stuff over the crowd as I was a bit lower the 2nd night getting a few heads in my way...hers were perfect just not complete songs but excellent stuff for youtube  . Soon to be added to the list of cool vids!

NYB thanks for posting that video from the bar, it was great! Okay...you guys were at Mustang Harry's until 2am??? I went in there and walked through twice and even went upstairs and didn't see you??? Where were you sitting?

This week was awesome, I'm so glad I went, the shows were fabulous, I enjoyed every minute of it! I started writing my little review on the way home on the plane last night so will try to get it plus some pics posted soon. My flight didn't get in until 2:30am and I was up at 8:30 today and at an SPCA adopt-a-thon until 8:00 tonight. Whew...tired. I need another week's vaca to get caught up!

It was a blast and I look forward to seeing those of you who will be in Toronto!

Hey Kat,

We ended up hanging outside MSG for quite some time talking with Philip, Mark & Fritz and didn't get to Harry's 'til about 12 I think... We sat right at the bar... What time were you there?

You know what...I have no idea LOL I stopped and talked to Bitey, Camille, Philip and Fritz for a bit on my way back so maybe I got to Harry's before you. Your brother (I forget his name, I'm so bad with names!) is a great guy and really seemed to enjoy the show, I'm glad to hear he's going to go again. :)

Bravo...IAM..Ruth and Theresa..for your gifts to MLE and her recognizing your generosity!! :clapping: :clapping:

Looking for a bit of help on the title of a song. the playlist for this concert contains a song called "the Awakening". Can someone tell me what track this is and on what album? I am creating my own playlist of the concert and cant find that one song.

Thanks!

"The Awakening" CD ends with a trilogy of songs, all marked as part of "The Awakening":

The Universe Listened
Imagine That
What Happens Tomorrow

:)
The non-UK, non-original (but oh so cool!) Angie ;)
